PRODUCT INFORMATION

Rosso di Montalcino offers Casanova di Neri's unique style in a wine with structure and elegance, yet easy to drink and with a strong connection to the terroir. For us, Rosso di Montalcino is a wine of primary importance. For its production, we use grapes from dedicated vineyards that receive the same attention and care we devote to those destined for the production of Brunello. The uniqueness of the terroir is reflected in the wine, which expresses all the passion for the land and the vineyard and the meticulous work resulting from long, multi-generational experience. The strong recognizability of this wine is also due to our mass selection of Sangiovese.

GIOVANNI NERI'S NOTES
The 2023 Rosso di Montalcino presents a lively and youthful ruby ??red color. On the nose, it is extremely expressive, floral, and intriguing.
Its bouquet reveals distinct aromas of small red fruits followed by nuances of tobacco and sweet spices. On the palate, it is refined and delicate, the product of a cool vintage that gives it surprising balance and drinkability.
The finish is silky and enveloping.
VINTAGE NOTES
The 2023 vintage began with a relatively mild winter, with below-average rainfall. Spring brought a slightly earlier start to the vegetative growth, but the subsequent return of low temperatures moderated the vines' development. May and June were characterized by abundant rainfall, allowing the accumulation of significant water reserves and promoting regular growth. The summer months were hot and dry, without reaching extreme peaks. Therefore, grape ripening was slow and steady. The harvest began in the third week of September.

HARVEST
Hand-picked during the first ten days of September.

VINIFICATION
Manual selection of the bunches before destemming and selection of the berries with an optical sorter. Spontaneous fermentation follows without the use of added yeasts and maceration is aided by frequent punching down. This process takes place in stainless steel conical vats at a controlled temperature for 18 days.
