The 2016 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Late Release—100% Sangiovese—is the very same wine bottled nearly a decade ago and cellared at Avignonesi to observe its evolution over time. Today, it fully expresses the depth, tension, and potential of the 2016 vintage. For this edition, Avignonesi and Bonvini 1909 commissioned Atelier Bingo to create a graphic design inspired by the Le Capezzine estate, the Tuscan landscape, and the rhythms of nature. The 2016 vintage also marks a significant milestone: it is the first certified organic Vino Nobile di Montepulciano produced by Avignonesi.

The 2016 vintage was characterized by abundant spring rainfall and occasional summer thunderstorms, followed by a gradual return to dry, sunny conditions that fostered slow, steady ripening. The cool, breezy end to the season guided the Sangiovese toward full maturity, resulting in wines of great depth, tension, and aging potential. Nearly ten years later, the 2016 vintage continues to confirm the potential it showed from the very start.

Tasting Notes
The 2016 Vino Nobile Late Release displays garnet-red hues with warm orange undertones. The nose reveals ripe red fruit, sour cherry, and dried plum, evolving into Mediterranean notes of forest floor, candied orange, umami nuances, and hints of licorice and cocoa. On the palate, the entry is warm and smooth, unfolding into a balanced profile supported by silky tannins, great drinkability, and a long, lingering finish.
