Aurea Gran Rosé 2024
Toscana IGT Rosato
"The idea for this Cru was born one morning, watching the sunrise over the vineyards of Tenuta Ammiraglia. The soft rays of sunlight that
illuminated the Maremma coast inspired the creation of Aurea Gran Rosé; the estate's emblematic wine, a perfect combination
of sea and vineyards, Syrah and Vermentino, elegance and the harmony of nature."
Climate Trend
The 2024 vintage at Tenuta Ammiraglia was characterized by a particularly mild winter, especially in the early months
of the year, and with widespread rains until early spring. These created adequate water reserves to weather the hot and dry summer. The high temperatures allowed for a splendid flowering in June. From mid-August, the first rains returned,
and nighttime temperature fluctuations became fairly regular again, allowing for a
good ripening with lovely freshness in the grapes at harvest time. The vintage yielded good results in
terms of quality and quantity.
Vinification and maturation
Aurea is made from grapes grown at an altitude of 150 meters above sea level, on clayey, skeletal soils with a beautiful
southern exposure. The secret of Aurea lies in the combination of the terroir, vineyard management, and
of course, the human factor. Aurea is born where proximity to the sea combines with typical vineyard cultivation of
white varieties and a white winemaking process for Syrah as well. Its unmistakable elegance, combined with
full body, is the result of meticulous attention paid in the vineyard and in the cellar. From the vineyard to the cellar, attention to
detail is fundamental. The grapes were hand-picked with scrupulous and rigorous selection of the bunches, starting
at first light and always during the coolest hours of the day. Once harvested, the grapes were
rapidly transported to the cellar where the careful and meticulous work began. The bunches were loaded into whole presses and, in the absence of oxygen, were meticulously inspected. The pressure applied during this phase was the softest and most delicate, so as not to stress the berries; this process, combined with the careful selection of the musts and their subsequent
decanting for no less than 12 hours, allowed us to eliminate any less elegant vegetal
components. Fermentation took place at a controlled temperature (17°C) in 600-liter French oak tonneaux,
medium toasted and 20% new. At the end of this period, we blended the two varieties, followed by
a period of maturation on fine fermentation lees. Later, a small selection
of Syrah vinified as a white wine from the previous harvest (Vin de Reserve), aged in barrique for 20 months, was added.
Tasting Notes
Aurea Gran Rosé 2024 seduces with its pale pink color with hints of rose gold. Its bouquet is intense and
complex, with an opening that evokes splendid notes of fresh fruit, including nectarine and small red berries.
The citrus sensations and light spiciness perceived on the finish are wonderful. The palate is soft, velvety, fresh, and
savory at the same time. The elegant tertiary sensations perceived in the aftertaste are beautiful. A long, complex, and
structured wine.
