ToscanaIGT Rosé
"The idea for this Cru was born one morning, watching the sunrise over the vineyards of Tenuta Ammiraglia. The soft rays of sunlight that
illuminated the Maremma coast inspired the creation of Aurea Gran Rosé; the estate's emblematic wine, a perfect combination
of sea and vineyards, Syrah and Vermentino, elegance and the harmony of nature."
Climate Trend
The 2023 vintage was characterized by a mild winter with plenty of rainfall, concentrated mostly in the months of December
and January. The rains of March and April allowed the plants to develop a vigorous and strong canopy,
ensuring excellent vegetative growth. The summer period, thanks to rising temperatures and the amount of water
accumulated during the spring, led to good development of the bunches. The excellent summer temperatures and
the temperature variations between day and night allowed for a significant accumulation of aromatic substances; The harvest period, characterized mainly by sunny days, allowed for the harvest of grapes at an optimal level of ripeness. All this resulted in highly structured wines with great aromatic expression.
Vinification and maturation
Aurea is made from grapes grown at an altitude of 150 meters above sea level, on clayey, skeletal soils with a beautiful
southern exposure. The secret of Aurea lies in the combination of the terroir, vineyard management, and
of course, the human factor. Aurea is born where proximity to the sea combines with typical vineyard practices for
white varieties and a white wine production process for Syrah as well. Its unmistakable elegance, combined with its
full body, is the result of meticulous attention to detail in the vineyard and in the cellar. From the vineyard to the cellar, attention to
detail is fundamental. The grapes were hand-picked with meticulous and rigorous selection, starting
at first light and always during the coolest hours of the day. Once harvested, the grapes were
rapidly transported to the cellar where careful and meticulous work began. The bunches were loaded into presses whole and in the absence of oxygen and meticulously inspected. The pressure applied during this phase was the softest and most delicate, so as not to stress the berries; this process, combined with the careful selection of the musts and their
subsequent decantation for no less than 12 hours, allowed us to eliminate any less
elegant vegetal components. Fermentation took place at a controlled temperature (17°C) in 600-liter French oak tonneaux,
medium toasted and 20% new. At the end of this period, we blended the two varieties, followed
by a period of maturation on fine fermentation lees. A small selection of Syrah from the previous harvest, vinified as a white wine (Vin de Reserve), was added, aged in barrique for 20 months.
Tasting Notes
Aurea Gran Rosé 2023 has a pale pink color with rose-gold reflections, is crystalline and delicate. The bouquet is
distinguished by its remarkable intensity and complexity. The opening aroma is of fresh fruit, with hints reminiscent of peach
nectarine and citrus fruits such as pink grapefruit, continuing with notes of candied orange peel and floral notes of peach
blossoms. On the palate, it is smooth, with elegant acidity, long and structured, with tertiary notes that return, making it
deep on the palate.
