PRODUCT INFORMATION
Sogni e Follia is a Rosso di Montalcino from the Sangiovese vineyards that we have on the western side. Historically, our Rosso di Montalcino has always been aged for an unusually long period of time. This choice, in addition to satisfying the need to allow a natural stabilization of the wine directly in the barrel, without treatments, allows us to offer a fully formed and not too raw Sangiovese.
Type: Red Wine
Classification: D.O.C.
Company: Podere le Ripi
Year: 2021
Region: Tuscany
Vine: 100% Sangiovese
Format: 750 ml
Category: Rosso di Montalcino
information:
Training system and density: Spurred cordon 4,800 plants per hectare
Soil: Deep alluvial soils with a texture tending to a slight dominance of silt and sand. Very heterogeneous skeleton with calcareous debris ranging from galestro to alberese.
Yield per hectare: 30 quintals
Harvest: Manual between the second half of September and the beginning of October
Yeasts: Indigenous
Vinification: Fermentation and maceration for 20 days in open oak vats
Aging: 36 months in large oak barrels
Alcohol content: 14%
Pairings: Roast pork
Serving temperature: 16-18°C
Sommelier's comment: This Rosso di Montalcino is structured and defined, at times it can recall a vintage Brunello, it will require a few years of patience to fully express its character which today is a bit inaccessible due to an obvious need for rest in the bottle. | The 2018 vintage is one of the most fragrant and floral of Podere le Ripi, thanks to a mild summer and a cool and long ripening of the grapes.
