Perrier Jouet was born in 1811, in Epernay. It was the year in which Pierre-Nicolas Perrier, a cork maker by profession, married Adele Jouët. In 1854, Perrier-Jouët elaborated the first brut Champagne in history (prompted by his son Charles), and was also the first house to mention the vineyard and the year of harvest on the label. Thanks to its notoriety, Perrier-Jouët became a regular supplier to Queen Victoria, but also to the Court of Napoleon III and the royal families of Sweden and Belgium. Following the example of the master craftsmen who pass on their manufacturing secrets, seven cellar masters have followed one another and have favored quality over quantity in order to be able to preserve the treasures of the house; such as the 1825 label, the oldest known vintage in Champagne.
