Vitaroccia Riserva is a cornerstone of Icario’s winemaking tradition, a wine that has been with us since the beginning and embodies the history of our commitment to quality. A refined blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, it is designed to age beautifully for 20 years and beyond, becoming even deeper with each passing year. Its grace and refinement are what define it, a wine that wears its elegance with timeless ease. PRODUCTION NOTES The harvest takes place exclusively by hand towards the end of September, after which the fermentation and maceration take place in steel barrels at a temperature of 25-28° for a minimum of 25-28 days. Then it is time for racking and the temperature is lowered to 18-20° to allow malolactic fermentation. The refinement takes place in 225-liter French oak barriques and 500-liter tonneaux. After 24 months the wine is bottled and then aged for a further 12 months before being released onto the market.
TASTING NOTES Intense ruby ??red color, almost impenetrable, with slight garnet nuances. On the nose it has an intense and complex bouquet, characterized by red berries, violets and exotic spices on a background of undergrowth and fine wood. In the mouth it is enveloping, of great structure and elegance, the tannins make it extremely suitable for very long aging.
