PRODUCT INFORMATION
Gaja's Barbaresco is a wine of immense richness and expressiveness, produced by a legendary winery in the Langhe. Angelo Gaja is one of those names that thrills any wine lover, as his interpretations have given rise to immortal bottles, which, when tasted today, remain perfectly intact and ready even 50 years after the harvest. This was a qualitative revolution, almost pioneering, given that in the 1960s, the idea of ??reducing yields per hectare in order to prioritize quality viticulture was far from obvious. This decision certainly proved Angelo right, given the incredible and growing success of his wines, now highly sought-after worldwide. These are prestigious bottles, worthy of a place of honor in your cellar, opened at the right time to fully enjoy their exquisite complexity!
The Barbaresco red is made from pure Nebbiolo grapes, grown in the renowned Piedmontese municipality that gives the denomination its name. The bunches, selected with almost obsessive care, come from 14 estate-owned vineyards located at altitudes ranging from 250 to 330 meters above sea level, while the extremely low yields, typical of Gaja, hover around 40 hl. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, and aging includes six months in barriques and another 18 in large oak barrels. Longevity is unquantifiable!
The Barbaresco wine reveals itself in the glass with an intense ruby ??color that shifts toward garnet with age. A truly rich nose, capable of combining two souls, one more typical and traditional and the other more modern. This lysergic aroma has it all, from dried violets to berries, from rose hips to licorice, from cocoa to cloves. And then there are hints of vanilla, cinnamon, and graphite. After several minutes dedicated to the olfactory part, we move on to the tasting, which is simultaneously caressing and vigorous, imposing and endowed with a velvety tactility. An unstoppable progression, for a liquid that seems never-ending. A thoroughbred.
