Grape Variety:
100% Pinot Noir
Vineyards:
The grapes come from 15-year-old organically managed vines, treated
only with copper and sulfur and fertilized with stable manure. The soils,
mainly clayey and rich in quartz, are located 200 meters above
sea level and 10 kilometers from the coast, in a unique and pristine terroir, characterized
by significant temperature variations between day and night.
Training:
High spurred cordon, to ensure shade for the grapes and preserve
the aromas, with 3,300 vines/hectare.
Harvest:
The grapes are selected and harvested by hand and placed in 18-kg crates.
The harvest takes place in the last ten days of August, exclusively in the early
morning hours, to ensure a low temperature for the grapes upon arrival at the cellar.
Vinification:
Before pressing, the grapes are placed in a refrigerated room overnight to
enhance greater extraction of aromas and prevent oxidation.
Fermentation takes place in wooden barrels. One-third of the wine is then aged in
new barriques and two-thirds in oak barrels for 10 months. Turra
uses renewable energy throughout the production process.
Wine:
Ruby red in color with light garnet highlights. On the nose, it is intense and
persistent. Initial balsamic notes and delicate hints of
red fruits, such as wild strawberries, enhance the harmony of the bouquet,
which also hints at light spicy notes. On the palate,
it is enveloping, intense, and persistent. The tannins are balanced
and not pungent, while the spicy notes come to life in the aftertaste, giving
the wine softness and character. Balance, finesse, character, and elegance
are the hallmarks of this Pinot Noir.
