It was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties (such as Cabernet), and among the first red wines in Chianti Classico not to use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone. It is produced with a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Tenuta Tignanello Tenuta Tignanello is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, on the rolling hills between the Greve and Pesa valleys. It extends across 319 hectares, with approximately 130 hectares under vine. Among its vineyards are two treasures: the Tignanello vineyard and the Solaia vineyard, which extend on the same hill, on soils derived from Pliocene marine marl with limestone and schist, and enjoy warm days and cool nights during the growing season. The vineyards of the same name produce Solaia and Tignanello, which have been described by the international press as "among the most influential wines in the history of Italian winemaking." According to Marchesi Antinori, they represent a constant challenge and a never-ending passion. The Tenuta Tignanello vineyards are composed primarily of the native Sangiovese grape, along with non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
The soil is rocky, calcareous, with alberese and galestro rock.
Tasting Notes With a deep, intense ruby ??red color, Tignanello strikes the nose with its complexity: notes of ripe red fruit, black cherry, sour cherry, and currant, blend with sweet hints of vanilla, mint, and delicate sensations of white pepper and myrtle. On the palate, it is rich and balanced: soft, silky tannins are supported by an excellent freshness that provides length, elegance, and a persistent finish.
