PRODUCT INFORMATION
Sansasia is the crown jewel of Icario wines, a limited-production Sangiovese that represents the heart of the Icario family. Named in honor of Sandra, Sabine, and Silvia, the owner's two daughters and wife, this wine is a dedication to Icario's legacy. Crafted through a collaboration between the owner, our team, and renowned winemaker Bernabei, Sansasia is produced from the finest selection of Sangiovese grapes from our entire estate.
Using the traditional "Governo alla Toscana" method, we have enhanced this wine's bold character, creating a Sangiovese with remarkable depth, complexity, and elegance. Every bottle of Sansasia is a tribute to the passion and dedication behind its creation, produced in limited quantities to ensure its exceptional quality.

PRODUCTION NOTES
In this bottle, you will find the essence of an extraordinary project begun in 2017. The grapes are hand-picked and carefully selected to create a wine that represents the union of the unique character of our terroir, the harmony of Sangiovese in all its purity, along with the immense love and dedication of the Icario team and Dr. Helmut Rothenberger's passion for wine. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand towards the end of September, after which fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel barrels at a temperature of 25-28°C for a minimum of 25-28 days. Then it is time for racking, and the temperature is lowered to 18-20°C to allow for malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged in 225-liter French oak barriques and 500-liter tonneaux. After 24 months, the wine is bottled and then aged for a further 12 months before being released.
TASTING NOTES
Ruby red color tending towards garnet with aging. On the nose, it offers impressive intensity, balance, and remarkable persistence. The aromas evoke notes of fresh red and dark fruits, undergrowth, and sweet spices, along with delicate floral tones. On the palate, it is full and enveloping, with a balanced and refined body.
