Ronco delle Mele, one of the Cru of Venica & Venica and spokesperson for the “Spirito del Luogo” project, is one of the white wines that most represent the Family’s production philosophy.
It has received numerous awards, both from the trade press and from the end consumer; in particular, the 2001 vintage was recognized as Best Italian White Wine in the 2003 Oscar del Vino nomination by Bibenda.
The wine, rightly, takes its fascinating and evocative name from the vineyard of the same name from which the grapes come. Even today in this vineyard, on the slopes and headlands, there are apple trees planted by grandfather Daniele in observance of the traditional mixed agriculture that saw the vines married to the trunks of fruit trees, used at the time as wire tensioners for the rows of vineyards.
The rootstocks that are daughters of the father vines, replicated by cuttings, keep the original character alive in other sites, also thanks to the same exposure.

Harvest
Grapes harvested and destemmed between 7 and 20 September 2023.
Winery | Aging
Following harvest, the Sauvignon grapes are macerated for about 20 hours at a temperature of 11/12°C in special containers, protected from oxygen with innovative systems through the recycling of fermentation carbon, in order to reduce the intake of antioxidants. About 20% of the wine ages in large 20/27 HL wooden barrels, the remaining part in steel containers.
Bottling
The wine is assembled and then bottled in correspondence with the full moons of April and July 2024.
Color
Dazzling in greenish yellow tones.
Olfactory notes
A set of complex sensations are released on the nose. Elegant vegetal notes dominate, including the classic tomato leaf, green pepper and grapefruit. The finish is elegant, with a slight reference to the typical minerality of the territory.
Tasting notes
Elegance and aroma go hand in hand with freshness and flavor on the palate. Warm and intense, with a hint of vegetal notes that amplify in a stage-like finish. A long future awaits it, in the cellar together with the wines of the heart.
To accompany with
Sauvignon “Ronco delle Mele” is a versatile white grape variety that pairs well with a variety of dishes thanks to its liveliness, acidity and aromatic profile. Excellent with shellfish, but also with fresh or slightly mature goat cheeses. Try it with a risotto with shrimp and orange scent, a cream of leeks and wild garlic or dishes with green asparagus.
