The Chianti Classico is the wine that best expresses the territory we are in, the result of centuries of tradition which we are proud to build on, carrying it into the future. After giving the matter thought and consulting the descriptions of the various typologies offered by the Consorzio del Chianti Classico, we decided to only make Riserva and Gran Selezione in 2016.
– Varieties: 95% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo.
– Ageing: Sangiovese: 30 months in traditional Slavonian oak barrels; Canaiolo: 30 months in neutral barriques.
– Harvest period September 22nd – October 23rd
– Bottled June 2019.
2016 was the best vintage in our brief history. The weather was ideal all year, with rain and fine spells at the right times, without any event that could stress the plants. The harvest was wonderfully slow and serene, and it allowed us to make three seleciotns of Sangiovese, most of which was definitely top. Also the Cabernet was spectacular. In short, a fantastic vintage.
