One of the estate's two prestigious and historic crus. The higher clay content of the Sant'Alfonso vineyards demonstrates how Sangiovese can produce different expressions depending on where it is grown. The grapes come from the Poggio ai Lupi vineyard on the Sant'Alfonso estate in Castellina in Chianti.

After fermentation using methods that maximize polyphenolic extraction, the wine ages in 35-hl French oak barrels for at least a year, followed by a further several months in the bottle.
Color: Very intense ruby ??red.
Nose: Great complexity and richness of aromas, with notes of ripe red fruit and spices.
Taste: Warm, full-bodied, and very smooth, well-supported by freshness and a tannic structure.
