The ultimate expression of Rocca delle Macìe wines, the Gran Selezione Sergio Zingarelli has a history that stretches back a long way: it is the result of years of work in the vineyards of the Le Macìe estate in Castellina in Chianti, where Sangiovese expresses itself in a unique and unrepeatable way. This wine embodies the best of the terroir, its vines, and the work of man. The grapes come from the Le Terrazze vineyard of the Le Macìe estate in Castellina in Chianti.
Grape Variety: 100% Sangiovese Year Planted: 2000 Vineyard Location: Tenuta Le Macìe, Vigneto Le Prese Area: 3 selected hectares out of a total of 5 Planting Density: 6,500 vines/ha Exposure: Southeast, Northwest Altitude: Min-Max 320-340m above sea level Soil: Miocene deposits, composed of marly limestone, clayey loam, alkaline, very calcareous and rich in skeleton (Alberese). After 10 days of alcoholic fermentation and 21 days of post-fermentation maceration on the skins, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in cement. Aged in small 25-hl French oak barrels (Troncais) for 18 months, followed by a minimum of 20 months in bottle. Color: Intense ruby ??red.
Nose: Fruity, intense and persistent with light spicy notes.
Palate: Fruity, warm and enveloping with excellent balance, silky and elegant tannins.
