2020 was an anomalous vintage, characterized by grapes that reached maturity very early and very quickly. It is not clear whether it was the effect of a spring frost that affected about 15% of the buds in April. September was hot, with a small percentage of overripe grapes, which were selected and vinified separately so as not to compromise the quality of subsequent harvests with aromas of cooked.
Despite the erratic weather pattern, the end result is exceptionally balanced and expressive wines, for Sangiovese, perhaps the best vintage produced up to that point. The only discordant note is the Cabernet. As great as the Sangiovese, the Cabernet is insufficient, so the Dianne will not be produced this vintage.
