PRODUCT INFORMATION

Egly-Ouriet's Champagne Brut Grand Cru perfectly reflects the elegant and pure style of this exceptional Récoltant Manipulant of Ambonnay, to be counted among the greatest vignerons in the entire Champagne region. Today at the helm of the cellar is Francis Egly, who took over the reins at the beginning of the 80s, elevating the expression of Pinot Noir champenoise over the decades thanks to the introduction of new techniques in the vineyard and in the cellar, always pursuing a minimalist and genuine production approach. Fundamental is the use of Burgundian barrels for vinification, purchased by his friend Dominique Laurent, while the liqueur d'expédition are those traditionally used, based on reserve wine and cane sugar.

Egly-Ouriet Champagne Brut Grand Cru originates from a 70-30% blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay respectively, of which about 50% from reserve wines. The grapes come from the Grand Cru villages of Ambonnay and Verzenay, in the Montagne de Reims area, where the soils are typically chalky. The vintage wine is vinified in barriques on the fine lees for about a year, with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and without malolactic fermentation. The mass is then added to the vin de reserve and placed in the bottle without any filtration or clarification for the second fermentation according to the Champenoise Method. The sur lie refinement in glass lasts for over 40 months before the dégorgement and low dosage, which takes place through a blend of old wines and cane sugar.

Egly-Ouriet's Brut Grand Cru Champagne is golden yellow in color with an elegant perlage. The olfactory framework evokes rich and refined aromas of citrus fruits, yellow fruit, flowers and dried fruit, with balsamic and finely spiced perceptions as a frame. The taste is fresh, sapid and with character, with a very subtle effervescence that accompanies the endless mineral epilogue.
