PRODUCT INFORMATION

APPELLATION:
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG.
GRAPE VARIETIES:
100% Sangiovese.
SOIL:
Marl, ancient clay with a high concentration of limestone.
ALTITUDE:
Between 280 and 310 meters above sea level.
VINEYARDS:
From 60 to 15 years old.
TRAINING SYSTEM:
Spurred cordon and Guyot, organic farming, limited production per vine.
VINTAGE DESCRIBED BY FRANCESCO MONARI,
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR AND AGRONOMIST:
The winter was fairly mild, with infrequent rainfall that
guaranteed good water reserves. A temperate March brought budbreak about a
week early. An unexpected frost in April and a fairly hot summer
put the vineyards to the test, but they responded very actively thanks to the
good agricultural techniques implemented. Thanks to these, the vines
demonstrated great resistance and had the energy to overcome the summer drought,
maintaining their physiological functions and allowing for constant and
correct ripening. During the summer, despite the daytime heat, very interesting
nighttime temperature swings were recorded, ensuring fantastic grape quality,
also demonstrated by perfect veraison, which produced very healthy bunches, rich in
concentration and aromas.
HARVEST:
Mid-September.
VINIFICATION:
Cold pre-fermentation maceration for about four days, followed by fermentation in
stainless steel and natural cement tanks at a controlled temperature below 26 degrees Celsius for a total
of 3 weeks. Malolactic fermentation in cement.
AGING:
Approximately 30 months in Slavonian and French oak barrels of varying capacities (10/15/30/50 hl).
The various Brunello parcels are kept separate for the wood aging process,
after which the wine is blended. A period of several months in concrete tanks
follows before bottling. Bottling in April and May, following the most favorable
lunar phases. Lengthy bottle aging.
TASTING NOTES BY BERNARDINO SANI,
CEO AND WINEMAKER:
Fresh and complex nose where fruity aromas blend with balsamic and
citrus notes. Silky on the palate with elegant, firm tannins. Great balance with a
characteristic saline note that makes this wine lively and gastronomic.
ALCOHOL CONTENT:
14.5% vol.
