DENOMINATION: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG GRAPE VARIETIES: 100% Sangiovese SOIL: Marl, ancient clay with high concentration of limestone ALTITUDE: Between 280 and 310 meters above sea level VINEYARDS: 55 years CULTIVATION SYSTEM: Spurred cordon, organic agriculture, limited production per vine VINTAGE: The 2018 vintage begins with average winter temperatures, then in February/March we witnessed some waves of frost and snow. Spring began with a fairly mild April, the rains were limited, while in May we had consistent rains. After a hot and dry June, we had a drop in temperatures in mid-July with some scattered hailstorms that caused a delay in the phenological phases of the vine and for a complete veraison we had to wait until the end of July. A north wind in the first days of September ensured a good concentration of the bunches and the absence of serious secondary diseases, allowing excellent ripening of the grapes until the harvest. The harvest period was characterized by good weather and mild temperatures. HARVEST: First two weeks of October VINIFICATION: Cryomaceration for about four days, followed by fermentation and maceration in concrete tanks for three weeks. Malolactic in concrete.
