Lorenzo Accomasso is one of the legendary names of the Langhe. His labels are sought after by all enthusiasts and connoisseurs of great Barolo and represent an important benchmark for Piedmontese wine. It is a small, artisanal winery that has always cultivated a deep connection with the land and its most ancient traditions. Rural culture, respect and love for the land, and meticulous vineyard work as the center of all its activities are the cornerstones on which Lorenzo Accomasso has built his success, step by step. A down-to-earth, reserved man of few words, he has always shunned the spotlight, preferring to remain among the rows, tending to his vineyards (since 1958), and letting his extraordinary wines speak for themselves in the glass.
His estate is located in the Annunziata district of La Morra, in the northwest area of ??the Barolo appellation. The geological nature of the soils is the result of seabed sedimentation dating back to the Miocene, when the area was occupied by the Piedmont Tertiary Basin. The soils are predominantly composed of Sant'Agata Fossili marl, composed of silt, limestone, clay, and sand, in varying percentages depending on the area and altitude. These are among the most prized soils, capable of producing elegant, refined wines characterized by great harmony and balance. The climate is mild and temperate, always breezy, particularly suited to a late-ripening grape like Nebbiolo. Thanks to this fortunate soil and climate, La Morra has become famous, and Lorenzo Accomasso has been able to interpret the terroir to its fullest potential.
The three hectares of the company's estate enjoy splendid sunny exposures, at an altitude of approximately 300 meters above sea level. The vineyards are managed with meticulous care to produce high-quality grapes. Lorenzo Accomasso has always tended his vines with short pruning, ensuring they produce fewer bunches per plant, with a remarkable concentration of aromas. In the countryside, traditional agriculture is practiced, inspired by the ancient peasant culture of respect for the land and the surrounding nature. From an oenological perspective, the rules of tradition are followed, with simple vinification and long macerations on the skins. For the maturation of the wines, the use of large barrels and long periods of aging, first in wood and then in the bottle, are favored. This produces wines of excellent quality, among the finest expressions of the La Morra region.
