PRODUCT INFORMATION
Giacosa's Barbaresco "Asili" is a monumental wine, of great charm and elegance, aged for 18 months in large barrels. It presents captivating aromas of dried flowers, red fruit, and rhubarb. On the palate, it is elegant, savory, and well-structured, with impeccable tannins and a balanced freshness.
Giacosa's Asili is one of the mythological creatures of Barbaresco, a cru renowned for producing intricate and intoxicating wines. Bruno Giacosa is perhaps the legend of the Langhe, and his recent passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of all wine lovers. Bruno's bottles are immortal, transcending time and enhancing the aura of mystery and magic that often surrounds a wine's decades-long evolution. Classic yet contemporary interpretations, so rich in detail and nuance, at once concrete and dreamy. Approximately 20 hectares of vineyards, spread across Serralunga d'Alba, La Morra, Barbaresco, and Castiglione Falletto, and an approach that has always been committed to tradition and respect for the land. Immortal Bruno.
The Barbaresco Asili is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes from a single, historic vineyard in the municipality of the same name. Asili is a legendary cru, compared by many to some Burgundian Grand Crus for its ability to create feminine wines of unparalleled elegance. The Bruno Giacosa winery's interpretation has always been classic, so after careful manual selection of the grapes, fermentation takes place in concrete tanks and maceration lasts a considerable amount of at least three weeks. Aging takes place, as per tradition, in large oak barrels for approximately 24 months.
The Asili displays a ruby ??red color tending toward garnet, typical of Nebbiolo. An immense liquid, there's no doubt about it, and it's evident from the first sniff, which paints a portrait of the Langhe revisited with a feminine twist. There's licorice and raspberry, but the scene is dominated by floral flourishes, almost psychedelic, reminiscent of bouquets of dog roses and violets. The palate lives up to expectations, tight yet sunny, like a great Barbaresco, revealing perfectly embedded, fine-grained tannins. The finish is incredibly long. An unforgettable taste, it's a wine worth trying at least once in a lifetime, and even more if you can. Magical.
