PRODUCT INFORMATION

The Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair, also known as Château de Vosne-Romanée, is a recent creation, founded in 2000 by Viscount Louis-Michel Liger-Belair. However, the family's presence in Burgundy dates back much further. Château de Vosne-Romanée was acquired by Louis Liger-Belair in 1815, with an estate that at the time spanned 60 hectares, including the famous parcels of La Tache, Les Malconsorts, and Les Brulées. Over the years, the property has experienced various ups and downs. It was sold at auction in 1933, and later the two brothers Juste and Count Michel purchased part of it, adding one of Vosne's flagship wines, La Romanée, the smallest appellation in France at 0.84 hectares. However, the parcels were left in sharecropping to winemakers or other Burgundy wineries. The estate was finally reborn in 2000 with the arrival of Louis-Michel Liger-Belair. The new owner terminated the sharecropping contract for the Romanée and other parcels with Bouchard and also took over the bottling process (from 2001 to 2005, a portion of the production was still bottled by Bouchard). The 9-hectare estate is managed according to biodynamic principles and is today among the finest in the Côte de Nuits.

About the cuvée
A major player in the Burgundy wine world, Domaine Comte Liger-Belair was founded relatively recently, in the 2000s, by Viscount Louis-Michel Liger-Belair. The viscount quickly made the estate one of the most prestigious estates in the region, producing must-have wines, worthy of collecting and enriching one's cellar. The single-varietal Pinot Noir in this La Romanée Grand Cru in monopole was grown biodynamically. It occupies less than one hectare (0.8 acres), and the vines range in age from 22 to 42 years. The vineyard's extraordinary characteristics stem from the red-brown soils, composed of limestone and clay.
This cuvée is produced in very limited quantities: 12 228-liter Burgundian barrels and 3,600 bottles. Ideal for long aging, this wine boasts a splendid dark ruby ??color and releases intense notes of black fruits, such as black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, and currant. Hints of candied fruit, figs, undergrowth, and licorice are also detectable. With its extremely persistent character, it deserves to be appreciated for special occasions, paired with haute cuisine dishes.
