PRODUCT INFORMATION
The Wine
A fascinating blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Grechetto, Traminer, Sémillon, and Riesling grapes and the unique terroir of Castello della Sala. The grapes, caressed by the morning mists and favored by the unique microclimate, develop Botrytis Cinerea, a noble rot that reduces the water content, concentrating the sugars and giving Muffato its characteristic aromas.
Muffato della Sala
Castello della Sala
Castello della Sala
Castello della Sala is located in Umbria, a short distance from the border with Tuscany, about 18 kilometers from the historic city of Orvieto.
The lands of the Castello, an imposing medieval manor, extend over 600 hectares, of which 229 hectares are planted with vineyards, at an altitude of 220–470 meters above sea level, among the rolling hills that characterize the beautiful countryside of these areas.
The soil is predominantly clayey and calcareous, rich in fossil shells, with vineyards well exposed to the rising sun and excellent temperature ranges: Castello della Sala is a highly suited area for the production of white wines.
One exception: Pinot Noir, which finds ideal conditions in this terroir to express itself at its best.
