It was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties (such as Cabernet), and among the first red wines in Chianti Classico not to use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone.

Tignanello estate
Tenuta Tignanello is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico, on the soft hills enclosed between the Greve and Pesa valleys and extends for 319 hectares of land, with about 130 hectares of vineyards. Among its vineyards, two treasures: the Tignanello vineyard and the Solaia vineyard which extend on the same hill, on soils deriving from Pliocene marine marls with limestone and shale, and enjoy warm days and cool nights during the growing season. The vineyards of the same name produce Solaia and Tignanello, which have been defined by the international press as "among the most influential wines in Italian winemaking history". According to the Marquises Antinori, they represent a continuous challenge and a never-ending passion. The vineyards of Tenuta Tignanello are mainly composed of the autochthonous Sangiovese and non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
The soil is rocky limestone with alberese and galestro rock.

Tasting note
With an intense and deep ruby ??red color, Tignanello strikes the nose for its complexity: notes of ripe red fruit, black cherry, sour cherry and black currant, combine with sweet hints of vanilla, mint and delicate sensations of white pepper and myrtle. On the palate it is rich and balanced: the soft and silky tannins are supported by an excellent freshness capable of giving length, elegance and gustatory persistence.
