Beginning in 1978, an in-depth study of the terroir at Castello di Ama identified specific vineyard plots boasting exceptional soil and climatic characteristics.

The La Casuccia vineyard was established in 1985; the resulting wine—a blend derived from the separate harvesting of three Sangiovese and Merlot plots—is produced in extremely limited quantities and only during the best vintages.

A powerful and explosive wine in many vintages, it is also sensual and lively, displaying energy and balance while requiring time to fully express its potential.
