THE CUVÉE
Today, the new team practices the latest possible harvests to obtain grapes with a perfect level of maturity, works with basic yields and uses 18 months aging in 70% new oak barrels. The clearly stated ambition of elevating Evangelile to the highest rank of the denomination appears to have been achieved. Its wines of great richness, with a dark ruby ??color and aromas of raspberry, blackberry, sometimes liquorice, demonstrate an exceptional aging capacity.

INFORMATION ON THE ESTATE: CHÂTEAU L'ÉVANGILE
Although the wines of Pomerol do not fall into any classification, that of Château l'Evangile is undoubtedly one of the best of the denomination. The estate was founded in the mid-18th century by a family from Libourne, the Léglise, who contributed to the creation of the Pomerol vineyard, together with the families who owned the Petrus (Arnaud family), La Conseillante (Catherine Conseillant) and Trotanoy (family Giraud). Until then called Fazilleau, the estate took the name of l'Evangile at the beginning of the 19th century, under the guidance of the lawyer Isambert, who was its owner until 1862. Purchased by Paul Chaperon, the property of Château l' Evangile remained with his descendants, the Ducasses, until 1990. Since then, Lafite Rothschild's team has gradually regained control. The previous owners were perfectly aware of the considerable potential of this exceptional terroir, characterized by a deep and heterogeneous subsoil, composed of gravel mixed with clay and sand. Not even the terrible frosts of the winter of 1956 completely damaged the vineyards of Château l'Evangile. Louis Ducasse once again took over the reins of the estate, and despite the fact that the vineyards were still very damaged at the time, he managed to renovate the vineyard and bring it back to very high levels in just a few years. Levels that would not lower even after his death in 1982, thanks to his wife who replaced him, demonstrating considerable tenacity.
