Brunello di Montalcino Poggio alle Mura Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Montalcino Reds PRODUCTION AREA Specialized vineyards located around the Poggio alle Mura Castle, which zoning studies conducted within the estate have highlighted as particularly suited to Sangiovese. Therefore, they were used to plant the first vines from the clonal selection studies begun in 1982. Altitude: 210-220 meters above sea level. Location: Hillside.
GRAPE VARIETIES 100% Sangiovese, from a combination of internally selected clones.
PRODUCTION METHOD After harvesting, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation and maceration for 12-13 days in combined stainless steel and wood Horizon vats at a controlled temperature (27-29°C). Aged for two years, 90% in French oak barriques—made according to the company's production specifications—and the remaining 10% in Slavonian oak barrels, the wine is aged in bottle for an additional 12 months before being released.
