PRODUCTION AREA Over 170 hectares of estate-owned vineyards, in the hilly area on the southern slopes of the municipality of Montalcino. TRAINING SYSTEM: Spurred cordon PLANTING DENSITY: 2,400 to 4,400 vines/ha YIELD PER HECTARE: 6.5 tons/ha PRODUCTION TECHNIQUE The meticulous selection of grapes is followed by vinification with maceration of the skins at a controlled temperature in combined stainless steel and wood Horizon vats, which lasts approximately 10-12 days. The wine ages for two years, 50% in French oak barrels (60-90 hl) and 50% in French oak barriques (3.5 hl); during this period, scrupulously monitored, until bottle aging, which lasts 8-12 months. TASTING NOTES Color: Intense ruby ??red with garnet highlights. Aroma: Ethereal, with a broad bouquet, slightly vanilla-like. Palate: Full-bodied, smooth, velvety, and intense, with hints of licorice, spices, and a slight hint of tar. WINEMAKER'S REVIEW A classic Banfi wine from Montalcino. Made from Sangiovese grapes, the result of clonal selection carried out on the estate and aged in both large barrels and French oak barriques, it is a rare example of the perfect synthesis between tradition and modern winemaking.
