PRODUCT INFORMATION
This vineyard is located on the eastern side of
Montalcino, at an altitude of between 280-310
meters above sea level. Facing east, the soil is of the type:
"Marine deposits of the Pliocene", clayey soils with
silty sands and yellowish brown sandstones, with medium-fine grain,
intercalated with thin levels of
conglomerates residues of Pietraforte.
Grape variety
Sangiovese 100%
Plant density
4,500 plants/hectare
Production per hectare
6,000 kg of grapes
Harvest
The grapes are hand-picked at the beginning of October
Vinification and Aging
The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel
vats at a controlled temperature, the maceration times are: two days of cold
maceration at 10°C and 10-12 days at 25-28°C during and
after fermentation. The malolactic fermentation takes place in concrete vats.
The wine is then aged for the first
12 months in barriques and tonneaux, then 12/16 months in
20-30 HL oak barrels. Finally, it is aged in the
bottle for 22 months.
Bottles produced
3,000
Alcohol
14.5%
Sensory Characteristics
The color is ruby ??red with shades
tending to garnet. The intense, fine and
complex aroma develops on notes of morello cherry enriched
by a background of spices, mainly
cinnamon and cloves. On the palate, an
initial tactile phase in which you can appreciate structure,
fullness and softness, is followed by a persistent finish
thanks to a dense and silky tannic texture, and a
harmonious return of the retro-olfactory notes.
The Reserve represents the best expression of the
Le Lucére vineyard, selected during
the barrel aging and produced only in excellent
years.
