PRODUCT INFORMATION
This is Poggio al Tesoro's flagship wine, produced with the finest selections from the estate's vineyards. Since its inception in 2003, it has been recognized by the Italian and international press and has quickly become a Bolgheri classic. A new take on a Super Tuscan, it expresses the richness of a great terroir, combining tension, complexity, and great finesse.
Weather Trend
The Bolgheri area in 2021 was characterized by a long dry period, from mid-May to the end of the harvest. The summer was predominantly dry and breezy, with warm but not excessively muggy temperatures. Thanks to the rainy winter, good water reserves were stored, which helped prevent stress on the vines during the dry period. The harvest of the white and red grapes for the rosé began in the last week of August, thanks to a climate that was absolutely favorable for the perfect ripening of the grapes, which arrived at the harvest in excellent condition. At the beginning of September, we harvested the best Vermentino parcels, proceeding with a gradual ripening process from Syrah to Merlot, continuing with the Cabernets until the last week of September. A significant temperature range between day and night, especially in early September, helped preserve the acidity of the grapes and the aromatic components. The vinification produced expressive whites and rosés, with a refreshing drinkability, and fragrant, savory reds with a significant polyphenolic component during long aging. We can consider 2021 a fine vintage, characterized by fresh and mineral wines that are at the same time full-bodied, with elegant tannins and excellent persistence, fragrance, and aroma.
