PRODUCT INFORMATION
Soil type
Predominantly marl and sandstone belonging to the Eocene-era flysch formation, characteristic of the hilly terrain with southwest and northeast exposures.
Grape varieties
Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia
Alcohol content
13%
Acidity
5.60–6.40%
First vintage produced
1975
Expected longevity
On average 7–8 years; over 10 years in the best vintages.
Tasting notes: Vintage Tunina displays a brilliant straw-yellow color with golden highlights. The nose is intense and expansive, showing great elegance and persistence, with hints of honey and wildflowers. On the palate, it is dry, smooth, and highly harmonious, with exceptional persistence derived from its particularly full body. It pairs well with truffle-based first courses and a wide variety of fish dishes—especially baked fish or those served with sauces—and can even complement white meats. A memorable pairing was with a fresh salmon parcel stuffed with Parmesan cheese and artichokes. (Daniele Cernilli)
Notes: The initial trials date back to the 1973 harvest, while the first vintage released under this name and label was the 1975. Historically, Vintage Tunina is a blend of the finest grapes—harvested late (roughly two weeks after the standard harvest, depending on the year) from approximately 16 hectares of vineyards on the Ronco del Fortino site. The name "Tunina" refers to the former owner of the land where the original vineyard is located; it is also dedicated to Casanova’s poorest lover—a housekeeper in Venice who was also named Tunina (Antonia).
