A deep bond between wine and territory

Tuscany is an extraordinary land, famous all over the world for its villages, its landscapes and its excellence in the food and wine field. Among these excellencies, wine has always played a very important role. In short, the world of wine has always intertwined its destiny with that of these places, creating an indissoluble bond. And, perhaps, it is easier to understand the authentic soul of Tuscany with a glass of wine in your hand that can reveal the history and the stories that lie among these magnificent hills. Montepulciano is a village known all over the world, not only for the architectural harmony of the ancient village, but also, and above all, because of the famous Vino Nobile produced here. In short, the village is one of the most eloquent emblem of this deep bond between wine and territory. It is in the beautiful town center that one of the most anticipated events in the wine world takes place every year, the Preview of Vino Nobile.

The evocative context of the Vino Nobile Preview

We are almost there, preparations are underway for the highly anticipated 27th edition of the Preview of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The event dedicated to the last vintage of the precious nectar has become a must for operators in the sector and wine lovers. Wine is the great protagonist of a dream weekend to be spent in the enchanting Fortress of Montepulciano, where it will be possible to taste the 2017 Vino Nobile and the 2016 Riserva. Wines poured into the glass directly by the producers, who will talk with love about their latest creation. Aren't you curious to find out what this experience will be like? WHERE: The Preview of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2020 will be held in the Fortress of Montepulciano, a place full of charm, at the highest point of the historic center, a few hundred steps from Piazza Grande, in Via di San Donato. WHEN: Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th February 2020

What vintage was it?

Why do you taste 2017 wines in 2020? And, above all, how was this vintage? Is it worth attending the 2020 Preview? Let's try to answer these important questions in order. First of all, in 2020 you can taste the wine of 2017 because the production regulation of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano requires at least 2 years of maturation (3 for the reserve) starting from January 1st following the harvest. The harvest takes place between September and October, so starting from the following January it is necessary to wait two years for the wine to become Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. So in 2020 we will taste the wine of the 2017 harvest. 2017 was a very complex year for viticulture in these area, and led to a very limited production compared to previous years, but not lowering the quality. The score given to a vintage is measured in stars. The rating can vary from 1 to 5 stars and to the delight of all the 2017 Vino Nobile obtained 5 stars, so it was an exceptional vintage! Participants in the Preview will be able to taste the wines of over 40 producers, talk with them, collect information on production from the vineyard to the cellar. This alone would be enough appealing to decide to spend a weekend full of emotions in the Fortress of Montepulciano, if we add to this that the vintage was excellent, let's say that it is absolutely worth it.
