A deep bond between wine and territory

Tuscany is an extraordinary land, famous all over the world for its villages, its landscapes and its excellent food and wine. Among these excellences, wine has always played a very important role. In short, the world of wine has always intertwined its destiny with that of these places, creating an indissoluble union. And, perhaps, it is easier to understand the authentic soul of Tuscany with a glass of wine between your fingers that can reveal the history and stories hidden among these magnificent hills. Montepulciano is a village known throughout the world, not only thanks to the architectural harmony of the ancient village, but also and above all because the famous Vino Nobile is produced here. In short, the village Poliziano is one of the most eloquent emblems of this deep bond between wine and territory. It is in this magnificent centre that one of the most eagerly awaited events in the world of wine, the Anteprima del Vino Nobile, takes place every year.

What year was it?

Why are we tasting the wines of 2017 in 2020? And, above all, how was this vintage? Is it worth participating in the 2020 Preview? Let's try to answer these important questions. First of all, in 2020 the wine of 2017 will be tasted because the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano regulations require at least 2 years of maturation (3 for the reserve) starting from January 1st after the harvest. The harvest takes place between September and October, so from the following January you have to wait two years for the wine obtained to become Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. So in 2020 we will taste the wine of the 2017 harvest. 2017 was a very complex year for the vineyard in these areas and led to a very limited production compared to previous years, but not at the expense of quality. The score given to a vintage is measured in stars. The rating can vary from 1 to 5 stars and to everyone's delight the Vino Nobile of 2017 got the 5 stars, so it was an exceptional vintage! The participants in the Preview will be able to taste the wines of over 40 producers, discuss with them, collect information about the production, from the vineyard to the cellar. This would be enough as an incentive to spend an exciting weekend in the fortress of Montepulciano, if we add to this that the vintage was excellent, let's say it was absolutely worth it.
